This Weeks SBQ Meme.....

Today's SBQ was suggested by Renée and is:

Do you use your needle, a seam ripper, or something else when you have to frog stitches?

Why do you use the method that you do?

I have four main tools in my frogging arsenal:

Scotch brand Clear Tape
Cocobola Wood Handle Stiletto
Surgical Tweezers
Small Animal Necropsy Scissors

The stiletto I got from Nordic Needle, the tweezers were from a craft catalog, but they don’t sell them anymore. The scissors I got from my sister who works as a animal lab technician for the government. If you were interested in buying one your best bet would be to try a medical supply store. The only thing written on them is… ROBOZ stainless germany.

When frogging ( over 1 with 1 strand of floss ) on 25 count or greater evenweave it makes it quick and easy. No snagged threads that get pulled under the weave. No accidentally cut fabric. Plus the clear tape gets rid of any floss fuzz that may become stuck to the surrounding fabric.

The above is for major frogging mishaps. For frogging ( over 2 with 2 strands of floss ) a single color/chart symbol I use my tapestry needle. As long as the area isn’t too big and I haven’t moved on to other colors before I’ve noticed the error. In either case I don't try to save the thread, unless it's using 2 strands and what I'm frogging is under 8 inches of thread. Otherwise it looks frizzy and worn.

You obviously do some beautiful counted cross-stitch. Are you interested in all needle crafts? I went to a wonderful Quilter's show today. Even though I do not quilt, I appreciate the art and workmanship. I generally needlepoint, although I will sometimes do counted. It is always nice to talk to another woman who enjoys any form of needlework. Good Luck with your projects.

Thanks!
I've tried several needle crafts – Counted cross stitch, Stamped cross stitch, No-count ( screened background ) cross stitch, Needlepoint, Embroidery, Crewel embroidery, Crochet, & Knitting.

I do have a quilt/wall hanging all kitted up – it's "My Cat's Garden" by Maggie Walker
( http://www.maggiewalkerdesign.com/ ) .

I've never done any kind of quilting before so I'll have to save it for someday in the future when I can take a beginner's quilting class at my local quilter's shop. Needlepoint's OK but not really my cup-of-tea. Of all the needle crafts I've done, I prefer counted cross stitch on even weave fabric.

I could get into some serious quilting. The fabrics are great. Go to the Virginia Quilter website. Go to www.colray-crafts.com for some great stuff, too. Use my e-mail address. It's easier. news24hrs@bellsouth.net

ACKKK!!!!
You, you evil enabler!!!!! ;-)

Unfortunately I just now ordered on-line $60 worth of audio book CD’s to listen to while I stitch. So your two websites will have to wait until next month. I especially liked the Beatrix Potter fabric from the Virginia Quilter website.

Yes, I am EVIL!!! I like the Halloween and pirate fabrics. Do you have a good light and magnifier? I'm telling you even if you do not quilt, needlepoint, or embroider, go to a show. You would be surprised at the embellishments on some of those quilts. There was a real overlap of the arts. Pls use my e-mail. Sometimes I have trouble with the blog sites. news24hrs@bellsouth.net
